Soundscape Composition 2025

All things come and go all around us constantly, moving as we move and are moved through existence. Elements and patterns of being oscillate in and out of phase, influence and perception. What else is out there, moving around us and in us that we don’t recognize and how could we come to perceive it?

In Waves is an investigation of the unheard, unseen and unconsidered that surround us and their relationships to one another. Based on acoustic and electromagnetic field recordings taken between Booterstown and Blackrock, South Dublin, the piece is not strictly to do with this specific location as Soundscape Composition so often is. Instead, the location provides the specific aural elements from its acoustic ecology, which then act as a proxy for more universal themes.
